FRESNO, CA—Multiple search warrants and a local probation search were executed on Friday March 13, 2015 in San Jose, Calif.
About 75,000 counterfeit music compact discs, 60,000 pirated movie digital video discs, and materials and equipment to duplicate, produce and distribute more than 10,000 additional discs were among the items seized during the searches, said officials.
According to court documents, the men allegedly conspired to duplicate and reproduce copyrighted music CDs and counterfeit movie DVDs.
The counterfeit materials were then distributed to resellers in California cities including Atwater, Modesto, Stockton and Sacramento.
The counterfeit materials included movie titles that were in theatrical release and not yet available for legitimate sale on DVD, according to officials.
The suspects were arrested for allegedly trafficking in counterfeit labels, criminal copyright infringement, and conspiracy.
Nine subjects were arrested on Friday:
- Victor Flores Fuentes, 38
- Edgar Hipatl Rodriguez, 25
- Angel Gomez, 34
- Ramiro Mendes, 34
- Efrain Lozada Rosas, 33
- Antonio Morales, 31
- Enrique Aguilar, 25
- Eric Ivanez, 21
- Jesus Cuevas Lopez, 24.
- The tenth subject, Cornelio Rojas, 50, was arrested in Atwater, Calif. on Monday.
The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
