Posted on April 23, 2015

criminal_justice_jurisprudence (2)MIAMI  –  A Miami-Dade County resident was charged with threatening to destroy the Internal Revenue Service  building by fire or a bomb, officials said.

Morris R. Whitehead, 53, of Miami, was arrested after calling the FBI’s Miami Field Office on April 20, and saying that the IRS building should be evacuated within two hours because it was going to go up in smoke, officials said.

Officials said Whitehead admitted that he had placed the threatening call.

“Threats to federal buildings are taken extremely seriously and we will continue to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law any attempts to disrupt the proper functioning of government and endanger the community,” stated U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer.

Whitehead is scheduled to be arraigned on May 5, 2015.  He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
