AMARILLO, TEXAS
Federal officials announced today that Dorothy Stegall Barnes, a/k/a “Dorothy Stegall Newman,” 56, plead guilty to one count of embezzlement from a federally insured credit union.
Barnes is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 8 and is facing up to 30 years in federal prison along with a $1 million fine.
The indictment alleges that from approximately September 1996 through December 2010, Barnes, the Assistant Vice-President of Teller Operations at the Pantex Federal Credit Union, embezzled approximately $826,000 from the credit union.
The FBI and Borger Police Department investigated this case.
