LOS ANGELES — A physician’s assistant plead guilty today to defrauding Medicare by signing fraudulent prescriptions for durable medical equipment while working at two separate medical clinics in California, federal authorities said today.
Erasmus Kotey, 77, of Montebello, Calif., plead guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
He will be sentenced in September.
Two indictments allege that Kotey billed $7 million in fraudulent prescriptions to Medicare and Medicare paid $3 million on those claims.
