The chief of a private police agency in Raleigh has been indicted by a Wake County Grand Jury on 13 felonies and eight misdemeanors.
Joseph Conover of Nova Police is now facing charges ranging from kidnapping and assault to obstruction of justice.
Wake County’s District Attorney says the charges are the result of abuse of power.
Conover is well known among city of Raleigh officials.
He recently complained in a public meeting of the Raleigh City Council that Raleigh Police Department officers were interfering with investigations by his officers.
The indictments involve several victims including one who was alleged tased without legal justification.
