NYPD cop was convicted by a judge today for “gratuitously” stomping on the head of a suspect.
Joel Edouard “let down his fellow officers by losing his composurAne in an admittedly difficult decision,” said Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Alan Marrus.
Edouard, 37, faces anywhere from probation to a year in jail for stomping on Jahmi-El Cuffee’s head as he was resisting arrest on Malcolm X Blvd. on July 23, 2014.
SUSPECT THANKS DA FOR CHARGING COP WHO STOMPED HIM
After Justice Marrus explained his reasons for finding Edouard guilty of misdemeanor assault, the nine-year veteran closed his eyes and held his face in his palms in disbelief.
Prosecutors reserved sentencing Edouard until June 10 to give them time to discuss a recommendation with Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson.
