VIRGINIA
A federal judge on Friday sentenced a Virginia man who served as a volunteer with the music program at Grace E. Metz Middle School in Manassas, Virginia, to 25 years in prison for production of child pornography, attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, and distribution and receipt of child pornography.
According to the evidence, David Alexander Battle II, 24, used his home computer to share images of child sexual exploitation via webcam on a chat website in April 2015.
Battle also posed as a minor girl on another chat platform and chatted with minor boys, including two boys he personally knew, coercing and enticing them to send him sexually explicit images of themselves, according to officials.
The trial evidence also showed Battle’s laptop contained gigabytes of child sexual exploitation files, the evidence indicated.
When police searched his home, they found videos of child pornography.
An officer named David Abbott was a part of the investigation, according to a WUSA Channel 9 report.
Last fall, the TV report stated that Abbott killed himself after being accused of molesting two boys. Battle’s parents believe Abbott planted evidence on their son’s computer after an altercation between the two outside of a music store early last year.
Battle’s parents tell WUSA9 anything pertaining to Abbott in court was not heavily discussed during the trial.
Abbott had already passed.
“It’s hard thinking that your son was set up and he’s going to spend 25 years in prison for something he may not have done,” Cathy Battle told WUSA.
U.S. District Judge Claude M. Hilton also ordered Battle, of Manassas, to serve 15 years of supervised release after he leave prison. Battle was convicted on March 10, according to officials.
