A St Louis reporter who sparked outrage after he posted a sick ‘lead diet’ joke about Michael Brown’s mother and her son’s shooting death on Facebook, has been fired.
KTVI spokeswoman, Suzie Mahe, said she was unable to comment on personnel matters, but she confirmed that ‘Bobby Hughes no longer works here; he’s no longer an employee of KTVI’, according to the St Louis Post-Dispatch.
Hughes, a photographer and reporter at Fox 2 News, posted the joke on July 22 about Lezley McSpadden, Brown’s mother, being invited to the Democratic National Convention, according to the St Louis American reported.

Hughes’ comment (pictured) was in response to an original post made by city officer Lt Jerry Foster who wrote: ‘Why not let them speak. It is the Democratic Criminal Party. How fitting’
Hughes commented: ‘She’s going to talk about the new lead diet she’s endorsed. Five servings and you can lose 200 lbs in two years easily.’

McSpadden had appeared on stage at the DNC as part of the ‘Mothers of the Movement’.
Four days later, the Ethical Society of Police, an organization that represents minority police officers, released a statement calling for Hughes’ apology to Brown’s family and the community.
