Abbott and Costello were two great comedians who are most famous for the “Who’s on First” comedy routine. It is hilarious. Here are two of my favorite Abbott and Costello’s comedy routines that are not only funny but underscore the comedic genius of these two funny men.
Behind the scenes, however, Abbott and Costello were often at odds about finances as their movie and TV mushroomed. The two became a comedy team in 1936 and split up in 1957. Lou Costello died on March 3, 1959. Abbott had to keep working because of tax problems but never regained popularity. In the end, Budd Abbott was living on a meager Social Security check. He died of cancer on April 24, 1974.
