Police said a boyfriend and girlfriend duo robbed three gas stations overnight Wednesday.
Oklahoma City police arrested Jerome Grandison and Geneva Farmer in connection with the crimes, both 19 years old.
The alarming part of the case: police said the duo had their baby with them.
“Sadly, there was a 6-month-old child in the car with them, so they had taken the baby along in this robbery spree,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Dept.
The child is now in safe hands with their grandmother.
Hours earlier, the crime spree began around 2:50 a.m. at the Valero gas station near S.E. 59th & I-35.
The suspects’ second stop was around 3:15 a.m. at the Circle K near 63rd and Broadway Extension.
Then, around 3:30, officers suspected a convenience store down the street could be their next target.
“He knew there was a Circle K in the 200 block of west Britton in case they’re next,” Knight said.
It was at that Circle K, when police spotted the getaway vehicle, the suspects were inside their car.
Police later found out they had just tried to rob this gas station, but the clerk talked them out of it.
“The clerk told the suspect something along the lines there’s not much money here, is this worth losing your freedom over. At that point, the suspect just turned and walked out the door,” Knight said.
That’s about the time police showed up on the scene.
Both suspects were arrested.
Luckily, nobody was hurt during the robberies.
Both suspects are faced with robbery and child endangerment charges.
