Posted on May 10, 2014

JUSTICE DEPT IMAGEMIAMI  –  A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 56 years and four months in prison for his role in a string of violent armed robberies that targeted food delivery drivers and taxicab operators, officials announced Friday.

U.S. District Court Judge K. Michael Moore sentenced Lionell Sanders, 19, of Miami, after he plead guilty in December to conspiracy to commit robbery affecting interstate commerce, and two counts each of robbery affecting interstate commerce and the possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The robberies occurred from August 2013 to September 2013, officials said.
