PENNSYLVANIA
U.S. District Judge Michael M. Baylson on Tuesday sentenced a Philadelphia-area doctor to 12 months and one day in prison and ordered him to pay a $100,000 fine for the illegal distribution of oxycodone, officials stated.
Judge Baylson also ordered Richard Ira Mintz, D.O., 69, of Dresher, Pennsylvania to serve three years of supervised release and 90 days of home confinement following release.
Mintz pleaded guilty in March 2019 to eight counts of distributing controlled substances (oxycodone) outside the scope of professional practice and not for a legitimate medical purpose.
Mintz has surrendered his medical license and DEA Certificate of Registation.
In a related civil case, Mintz paid a $107,584 monetary penalty, according to officials.
