LIFE AS WE KNEW IT
BY ERIKA LORENZEN
Life as we knew it has gone down the drain
This new Corona Virus has made us insane
With toilet paper, Lysol spray, and sanitizer too,
Disappearing off the shelves, please someone call Code Blue!
Corona with Lime, some might joke,
But not the ones who are left to choke!
It wasn’t that long ago that kids were in school
Or play centers, parks, the mall, or the pool.
Movie theatres packed before, awaiting the latest feature
Now we’re living in a horror film, but just can’t see the creature!
While sandwiched on beaches, “Spring Break Party!” some will say
Then they’re coughing, and crying the very next day!
Once full of life, but now all empty for restaurants, amusement parks, theatres, and bars
It’s almost as if aliens had invaded from Mars.
Can’t get your nails done, not even your hair
Nor spray tans, or eyelashes, it’s such a big scare!
Those who are left seen wandering the streets
Are adorned with gloves, masks, trash bags, or duct taped sheets!
Some will drink, some will pray
Or some will watch TV to make it through the day.
Some families will join for the very first time
Under the same roof without having separate lives.
Through trial and error, through joy and pain
We’ll get there some day, if we don’t go insane.
