LOS ANGELES
A former Los Angeles city electrician has been charged with having a financial conflict of interest in more than 100 purchase orders over a 10-year period, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
David Curry, 62, was charged with nine felony counts of conflict of interest. He pleaded not guilty.
Between 2007 and 2017, Curry is accused of influencing purchase orders in which he had a financial interest. These purchase orders involved contracts, worth more than $3 million, with a company that made circuit boards used for intercom systems for Los Angeles City Fire Department vehicles. The defendant allegedly received money from that company, the prosecutor said.
If convicted as charged, the defendant faces up to eight years and four months in state prison.
Curry is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The case remains under investigation by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation, officials stated.
