A jury has found a woman guilty of setting a man on fire last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
Shalonda Christine Shaw, 34, a transient, was found guilty Thursday of one felony count of mayhem and the jury found true an allegation of personal use of a dangerous and deadly weapon, gasoline.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 22 . She is facing nine years in prison.
On Sept. 5, 2019, Shaw poured gasoline from a container onto a 36-year-old man in the 1600 block of West Slauson Boulevard, according to evidence presented at the trial.
The defendant lit the victim on fire and the victim suffered significant injuries.
Deputy District Attorney Holly Harpham of the Arson and Explosives Section was the assigned prosecutor.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
