LOS ANGELES COUNTY
A Los Angeles police officer was charged Tuesday for threatening to kill his cousin and another man last week in Inglewood, according to officials.
“Wearing a badge does not give an officer the right to break laws,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Police officers will be held accountable for their actions just like anyone else.”
Nicolas Enmanuel Quintanilla-Borja, 28,was charged with one count each of false imprisonment by violence and assault with a semiautomatic firearm and two counts of criminal threats. He also faces special allegations of using a firearm.
He pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
On May 7, the defendant returned home and allegedly threatened to kill his 37-year-old cousin who barricaded himself inside a room, according to prosecutors.
Quintanilla-Borja then went outside and made similar threats to a 64-year-old man who also lived on the property.
The defendant, who was off-duty at the time, allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the man who managed to get away from him and call 911, officials stated.
The case remains under investigation by the Inglewood Police Department.
