A woman was charged Wednesday with killing her three children earlier this week in East Los Angeles, according to state prosecutors.
“In an instant, three innocent children were taken from us and we are crestfallen,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “Nothing is more heartbreaking than the tragic betrayal of a parent failing to protect their children.”
Sandra Chico, 28, was charged with three counts each of murder and assault on a child causing death.
On June 28, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of Ferris Avenue. When they arrived, they found 3-year-old Mia R., 2-year-old Mason R., and 1-month-old Milan R. dead.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
