A man was charged Wednesday with fatally shooting a Rite Aide store employee that tried to stop him from shoplifting, according to authorities..
“Violent crime rattles our neighborhoods and creates fear among the people who live in them,” said District Attorney George Gascón. “Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family over such a tragic and needless loss of life.”
Anthony Lemus, 20, of Glassell Park faces one count each of murder and second-degree robbery.

Lemus is charged with killing Miguel Penaloza, 36, at the Rite Aide store in Eagle Rock on July 15.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
