EDINBURG, TEXAS
Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and identified over 140 migrants gang members affiliated with ten different street gangs this fiscal year.
Last week, McAllen Border Patrol Station apprehended a subject from Mexico following his illegally entry into the United States. It was later determined the Mexican national is a documented Partido Revolucionario Mexicano prison gang member with multiple removals from the United States.
Saturday morning, a Salvadoran national illegally entered the United States through Hidalgo, Texas, within a group consisting primarily of families. Criminal record checks revealed him to be a confirmed MS-13 gang member. The migrant was previously ordered removed from the United States in 2017.
Monday, agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint in Sarita, Texas, discovered 54 migrants being smuggled in a commercial trailer. During processing, record checks revealed a Honduran national to be a confirmed 18 Street gang member. The subject was also previously removed from the United States.
Later that morning, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers encountered two subjects near the Brooks County Rest Area north of the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint.
Border Patrol agents determined they were illegally present in the United States and transported them to the station for processing.
At the station, criminal records checks identified a Salvadoran national as a confirmed MS-13 gang member with a conviction for sexual battery in Hall County, Georgia. The 44-year-old migrant was sentenced to 30 days confinement and 12 months’ probation in 2009.
