Washington Post Opinion: Gen. Milley’s stress test
Opinion by David IgnatiusColumnistYesterday at 3:05 p.m. EDT369
The final months of Donald Trump’s presidency were a stress test for Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He feared that Trump would use a violent crisis at home or abroad to draw the military into his machinations to retain power.

JUST SAYING BY RAUL HERNANDEZ
Here we go again —
Reassuring the Chinese, Pelosi, and tens of hundreds of millions of other people worldwide that an impulsive lunatic capable of starting a nuclear war was on a short leash is noble work.
Trump is a delusional, lying con man capable of launching a military strike and triggering a nuclear war before he left the White House.
Trump’s flawed judgment can be compared to that of a Rhesus monkey on steroids — abandoning the Kurds, siding with Putin against America’s intelligence agencies, saying that he fell in love with a North Korean butcher.
Also, he tried to weaken and dismantle America’s allies, NATO, freeing 5,000 Taliban terrorists and signing a one-sided peace treaty with cave-dwelling savages, the Taliban. He also sent Army troops to bivouac close to the Mexican border to stop the Brown Hordes from invading America — most of these were unarmed poor and desperate people; women with children.
Mr. Ignatius reminds us of Trump wanting to flood an American city with troops to quell protestors.
Trump is still being held hostage by the voices in his head or whatever is causing his brain cells to misfire — He still believes he is the rightful president.
These were a few examples of the comings and goings of Trump’s warped mental circuitry.
Still, what is much worse is that millions of his cult followers are still preparing for His Second Coming. Perhaps, he will be galloping down Pennsylvania Avenue on a white horse with a sword in hand like a Roman Emperor. The sky is the limit to those who revere Donald the Entertainer.
What is most frightening is that despite all this, 74 million Americans voted in November to allow him another four-year term in the White House and let him to keep the nuclear launch codes within reach.
Thank you, General Milley!
MILLEY’S DILEMNA PART II
Washington Post Opinion: The perils that the book ‘Peril’ reveals should be investigated by Congress:
In response to Thursday’s Washington Post Op-Ed: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/09/15/peril-that-book-peril-reveals-should-be-investigated-by-congress/
On July 20, 1944, Claus von Stauffenberg and other conspirators tried to assassinate the Fuhrer, believing it would end World War II earlier. Stauffenberg thought it was the moral thing to do. Operation Valkyrie was the name of this failed bomb conspiracy against Hitler.
Gen. Milley didn’t do anything or suggest anything as nefarious as Stauffenberg and other Nazis.
While the GOP rallied around their lunatic after the November election, many sane people worldwide, including the Chinese, believed that Trump, to soothe his bruised ego, could order a military strike somewhere in the world and trigger an exchange of nuclear weapons missiles.
Before being elected, Trump believed that he was more intelligent than the generals about ISIS. He said this on the campaign trail.
Under his administration, Trump abandoned the Kurds and signed a peace deal with the Taliban after releasing 5,000 Taliban prisoners.
Trump’s judgment, deeds, and narcissism are well-documented.
Yet, here comes Marco Rubio, a clueless, power-hungry twit from Florida, demanding Milley’s resignation. Rubio, like the rest of the Republican Congress lapdogs, wants to appease Trump’s base.
What is more shocking than what Milley did are the 74 million who voted in November to allow a crazy, narcissist con man with the scruples of a sewer rat and the IQ of a slug to have four more years in office.
What does this say about a nation’s mental health?
Allow a lunatic to have access to the nuclear launch codes for another four years?
Even the Chinese knew this was a bad idea and raised concerns about it to Milley.
Milley tried to avoid the incineration of the human race by keeping everybody calm, including the Chinese, Pelosi, and millions of others who were worried about what Trump might do before he left the White House, like try to overthrow the American government on Jan. 6.
