JUST SAYING:
“You can’t fix stupid” first appeared in “The Shoe” cartoon strip by Jeff MacNelly.
That is more evident today, and stupid is a national pandemic and festers in mind-boggling ignorance and rank racism.
A glaring example of this was aired Sunday on CBS’ Sunday Morning.
People, mostly white, old, and breathtakingly ignorant, were at the birthplace of actor Andy Griffith, located at Mount Airy, North Carolina. A community that inspired Mayberry for “The Andy Griffith Show.”
According to correspondent CBS, fans of the show, which aired 50 years, were drawn there and come by hundreds of thousands.
The “fans” came because they liked the “good clean comedy,” and the show had “morals and values you don’t see that a lot on TV.”
The show had rare appearances and even fewer speaking parts for blacks.
Koppel interviewed a black 90-year-old resident born, left, and returned to Mount Airy in 1973. She said she was able to order a sandwich at a restaurant in 1973. But they had to eat outside the restaurant.
Except two, a trolly car full of old white people told Koppel that the 2020 election was “by no means” fair and that dead people voted and that Jan. 6th was “staged,” and “a truckload of people” showed up.
They love Trump. They don’t watch TV and found “truth in other ways.”They said the press is the enemy of the people. “We love our country. We love our fellow man,” said one man. “We want to be good neighbors. Treat everybody alike.”
Whimsical bubbles struggling to come to grips with reality would burst if they knew that Andy Griffith was banging his TV girlfriend Aneta Corsaut, who played school teacher Helen Crump. Andy had been married for 15 years when he began his affair with Corsaut, and he had several children with his wife. The TV crew knew about this adulteress affair.
Watch the video:
These old imbeciles stuck in the 50s are like the guy who smells so bad that he can no longer smell himself. But others know that he stinks to high heaven and most of the time it’s best to keep your distance.
Well, the guy still stinks and still living and yearning for this imaginary world. He’s also talking to himself or, perhaps, Uncle QAnon. And he is waiting for the Second Coming of Trump. But a political clone would do just fine to take the nation back to this magical time.
I have a feeling that Andy rolled over in his grave after the TV segment aired on Sunday.
“Go-o-o-o-llee!” as Gomer would say.
