Los Angeles County
Nine people have been charged in connection with a series of murders and attempted murders over the past several months, officials stated.
“I am committed to making sure there are serious consequences for anyone who lacks compassion for another human life. My heart aches for every family who has lost a loved one to violent crime. We will work with them to provide trauma-informed services,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “Meanwhile, my office is working diligently with our law enforcement and community partners to reduce violent crime across Los Angeles County. I have embedded veteran prosecutors and investigators with police in communities where violence has been prevalent.”
Among the charges filed earlier this week are the following cases:
- The murder of 18-year-old Arron Sutton in November 2021
- The murder of Christopher Woods, 61, also in November 2021
- The murder of Timonthy Lee, 24, also in November
- The murder of Kodi Martin, 23, and Erika Dixon, 24, on Dec. 3, 2021
- The murder of 29-year-old Jamahl Feemster on Jan. 4, 2022
- Three attempted murders.
Six defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges on Wednesday.
Some of the incidents occurred in the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division where the office’s Community Violence Reduction Division was recently established.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
