A federal grand jury in Indianapolis, Indiana, returned an indictment Tuesday charging an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department sergeant with violating the civil rights of an arrestee by using excessive force, officials stated.
Sgt. Eric Huxley, 44, is charged with one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. Huxley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The indictment alleges that on or about Sept. 24, 2021. Sergeant Huxley, wearing shoes, stomped an arrestee identified as Jermaine Vaughn in the head and face. Vaughn was handcuffed when he was assaulted,

The indictment also alleges that the offense resulted in Vaughn’s bodily injury and involved using a dangerous weapon.
The FBI Indianapolis Field Division investigated the case.
