Jamal Jackson was charged Tuesday with murdering a man and attempting to kill several other men in Northridge over the weekend, according to authorities.
“This callous act of violence against a group of individuals showed a total disregard for human life,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “Juan Lopez-Suarez’s death is tragic and senseless. My heart goes out to the victims and their families who are dealing this tragedy. My office will hold Mr. Jackson accountable for his brutal actions.”
Jamal Jackson, 24, was charged with one count of murder, four counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He also faces special allegations of personally using a handgun and personally inflicting great bodily injury, officials state.
He is being held on no bail.
On April 15, Jackson is accused of killing Juan Lopez-Suarez and injuring several others outside of a building in the 1900 block of Parthenia Street.
Jackson was allegedly seen on video surveillance cameras painting graffiti on the building hours before the shooting. The group was gathered near this graffiti when Jackson allegedly began firing.
The case was investigated by Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide.
