Daniel Garcia is charged with threatening to kill a Jewish family in their home in Los Angeles during an antisemitic attack, according to state prosecutors.
“We unequivocally denounce the violent act committed against an innocent family in our community.” District Attorney George Gascón said. “This act, fueled by hate and antisemitism, has no place in our society, and we condemn it in the strongest terms possible.
Daniel Garcia, 44, is charged with three felony counts, including one count of criminal threats, one count of attempted first-degree residential burglary, and one count of vandalism, with $400 or more in damage.
It is further alleged that Garcia committed hate crimes.
On Oct. 25, at about 5:20 in the morning, Garcia attempted to enter the victim’s home by kicking in the door while shouting antisemitic slurs and threatening to, “kill Jews!”
Garcia is currently held on $125,000 bail.
If convicted as charged, Garcia will face a maximum sentence of seven years and four months in state prison. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the case.
