Victor Siharath is accused of driving under the influence and running a red light, resulting in a collision that killed three women and injured two others, including a child, in Pomona on Saturday, officials stated.
“There are no words to express the heartbreak that Mr. Siharath’s actions have caused these victims’ families and community,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “Our hearts go out to the grieving families and the survivors as they attempt to cope with this unimaginable tragedy. Those who choose to jeopardize themselves and others by driving under the influence will face swift legal consequences. There is nothing that can bring back the countless lives lost to speeding and drunk driving, but our office will continue to hold those responsible.”
“The actions and choices of a DUI driver on March 2nd took the lives of three innocent people and severely injured two others,” Pomona Police Chief Michael Ellis said. “The Pomona Police Department mourns with our community and the families of the victims. Pomona PD is conducting the criminal investigation for this incident, and murder charges are being filed. We are committed to enforcing DUI laws in Pomona and will work with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure justice in this case.”
Victor Siharath, 36, is charged with three counts of murder and one count of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury.
Around 11 p.m. on March 2, Siharath was allegedly driving at the intersection of White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard in Pomona when he ran a red light and his SUV collided with a sedan.
Three women were killed, and a man and a 12-year-old girl sustained serious injuries.
Siharath is being held on no bail.
If convicted of the charges, Siharath faces up to life in prison.
The Pomona Police Department is investigating the case.
