Third Mississippi “Goon Squad” Officer Sentenced to 17.5 Years in Prison for Torturing Black Men

Former Rankin County sheriff’s deputy Daniel Opdyke was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison Wednesday. He is the third of six former Mississippi law enforcement officers who pleaded guilty to subjecting two Black men to torture in 2023.  — CBS News’ reports.
