Posted on September 5, 2024

According to officials, six Russian hackers, all Russian citizens and residents, were charged with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and wire fraud.

Five of them were officers in Unit 29155 of Russia’s military intelligence agency, the GRU, while the sixth was a civilian already indicted for computer intrusion and now also charged with wire fraud conspiracy.

The defendants are accused of launching cyberattacks ahead of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and targeting 26 NATO countries, officials stated.
