The Republicans have abandoned any pretense of caring about national security. They are willing to hand control of the world’s most powerful military to a morally bankrupt, hedonistic sexual predator.

But should we be surprised? Their leader, the self-styled Orange Messiah, set the tone when he stashed America’s most sensitive classified secrets at Mar-a-Lago, alongside the cocktail napkins and beach towels.

Some of these documents—so critical to our nation’s safety—ended up piled in a bathroom, mere feet from a toilet.

Trump didn’t stop there. He paraded these secrets in front of people with no clearance, no authority, and no legitimate reason to see them. In doing so, he recklessly endangered the lives of every man, woman, and child in America, not to mention those of our brave service members.

And yet, Chip Roy and his ilk in Congress seem more concerned with clinging to their perks and bloated salaries than with protecting this nation. They’re content to play Russian Roulette with our future, elevating a man with a track record of abuse, deceit, and utter incompetence to oversee the Department of Defense.

This isn’t leadership—it’s lunacy. It’s the grotesque handiwork of Trump’s judgment, echoed and amplified by a Republican Party that has utterly lost its way. God help us all, because they certainly won’t.
