Orangie Lee Fisher, 37, is headed to federal prison for more than a decade after federal agents dismantled his role in a fentanyl and meth pipeline running through southern New Mexico, according to federal officials.
Fisher’s luck ran out in April 2024 when the FBI’s Southern New Mexico Safe Streets Gang Task Force and local narcotics units kicked in the door of his motel room at the Imperial Sky in Las Cruces.
Inside: marijuana, nearly six grand in cash, and enough ammo to keep a small war going, officials stated.
Agents kept him under watch, making controlled buys until October when a raid on his home turned up roughly 1,000 fentanyl pills scattered around like candy and a stolen handgun hidden in a latex glove in the closet. Fisher tried to run, then claimed he didn’t live there and had no idea where the drugs or the gun came from.
A federal judge didn’t buy it.
According to authorities, Fisher pleaded guilty to dealing fentanyl, felon-in-possession, and carrying a gun for drug trafficking. He’ll serve 123 months behind bars, followed by five years of supervised release.
