A federal jury has convicted former Antioch police officer Devon Wenger, 33, of conspiring with fellow officers to violate residents’ civil rights, officials announced last week.
The verdict was delivered after a seven-day trial.
Senior U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White found Wenger guilty of joining others in the Antioch Police Department to use excessive force to injure, threaten, or intimidate community members.
NEWS REPORT LAST YEAR
At trial, evidence showed former Antioch officer Devon Wenger conspired with fellow officers Morteza Amiri and Eric Rombough to use excessive force on residents, including deploying a K9, firing a 40mm “less lethal” launcher, and other unlawful violence.
Prosecutors said Wenger treated force as punishment and concealed it in reports.
The jury found him guilty of conspiracy against rights but a second charge—deprivation of rights under color of law was dismissed.
Wenger had already been convicted in April 2025 of steroid distribution conspiracy and obstruction of justice. He was remanded pending sentencing on Dec. 2. He faces up to 10 years in prison
