CLEVELAND
What began as a routine warrant arrest turned into hours of tense standoff on Oct. 15, when deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service arrived at a Cleveland apartment to take Larry Leon Dwight Wiley into custody, according to federal officials.
Instead of surrendering, Wiley, 55, barricaded himself inside. When officers forced their way in, he allegedly leveled a .380-caliber handgun and opened fire. One deputy U.S. Marshal was hit in the arm and rushed to a nearby hospital. He is expected to recover.
The confrontation ended with Wiley in custody. Wiley was ordered held without bond while the case proceeds.
