BECKLEY, W.Va.
Mark Anderson Staples, 53, of Beckley, was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine base, commonly known as crack.
Staples admitted participating in a drug trafficking organization that distributed drugs in Beckley and elsewhere in West Virginia, according to court records.
Prosecutors said he supplied and distributed methamphetamine between April and May 2024, with at least 1.5 pounds attributed to him.
Staples was one of 12 defendants charged in a conspiracy spanning June 2023 through May 2024.
All remaining defendants have pleaded guilty.
The sentence was imposed by Frank W. Volk.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Boggess and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew D. Isabell and investigated by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
