BRIDGEPORT, Conn.
Jonathan Garcia, 37, of Long Beach, California, also known as “Gordo,” was sentenced Tuesday by in federal court to six years and six months in prison for trafficking narcotics into Connecticut.
According to court documents, the DEA’s Hartford Task Force began investigating a large-scale drug trafficking organization in 2022 that distributed kilogram quantities of fentanyl and cocaine in Connecticut.
The investigation, which included court-authorized wiretaps, surveillance, and controlled narcotics purchases, revealed the organization obtained drugs from sources in California via Mexico.
In February 2023, investigators intercepted two parcels mailed from a West Hartford post office to Southern California addresses. One package contained about $6,500 in cash and two new Apple iPhones; the other contained about $38,300 in cash.
Authorities also determined that members of the Loose Cannonz motorcycle club, based in East Hartford, were receiving fentanyl and cocaine shipments for distribution in the Hartford area.
Investigators said Garcia and another individual coordinated shipments of kilogram quantities of narcotics from Mexico to Connecticut. Garcia occasionally traveled to Connecticut to facilitate transactions and collect drug proceeds.
Garcia was arrested on Oct. 24, 2023, and on Aug. 11, 2025, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Garcia, who remains free on bond, must report to prison on April 22.
Court records show Garcia has a prior 2017 federal cocaine trafficking conviction in the Central District of California.
