Two Defendants Who Killed a Man for Two-Ounces of Marijuana Facing Life In Prison

U.S. Department of JusticeCONNECTICUT – The body of Dawayne Cobb was found inside of an idling vehicle in a Bridgeport neighborhood in 2012. He had gunshot wounds in his shoulder and abdomen, officials said.

The two men –  Trumaine Hearst, also known as “Man,” 21,  and  Johnnie “Jeezy” Jefferson, 24,  – have pleaded guilty to murdering Cobb and stealing a jar containing two ounces of marijuana from him. They took the stolen marijuana to a Bridgeport residence and distributed within themselves and others, authorities said.

Hearst plead guilty Monday to one count of causing the death of Cobb with a firearm.  Jefferson guilty to the same charge on November 3, 2014.

Hearst will be sentenced in February and Jefferson awaits sentencing.
