FRESNO, CALIF.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"usdojseal\"<\/a>Two chiropractors along with a psychologist were charged Friday for 15 counts of health care fraud committed at clinics in Bakersfield, Visalia and Fresno, officials said.<\/p>\n

Chiropractor Bahar Gharib-Danesh,<\/strong> 38, of Woodland Hills, \u00a0Chiropractor Na Young Eoh<\/strong>, 41, of Bakersfield were arrested. Also charged is clinical psychologist John Terrence<\/strong>, 72, of Marina Del Rey.<\/p>\n

Terrence is expected to voluntarily appear in U.S. District Court in Fresno within the next 30 days.<\/p>\n

If convicted, each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count of the indictment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdentifying and prosecuting fraud in the provision of health care services is a priority for this office,\u201d said U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner.<\/strong> \u201cWe will continue to work with our federal and state partners in pursuing dishonest health care providers who plunder public and private health care insurance plans for their own gain.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the indictment returned on July 2, these are the allegations:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gharib-Danesh was a chiropractor and the manager of Pain Relief Health Centers. The Health Centers was headquartered in Los Angeles, and had clinics in Bakersfield, Visalia and Fresno, as well as in Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n

Eoh was also a chiropractor, and was the treating physician for Health Center’s Kern County workers\u2019 compensation claims. Terrence was a clinical psychologist who saw patients from the Bakersfield clinic.<\/p>\n

According to the indictment, Health Centers\u00a0recruited patients who were workers claiming to have an injury. In treating the patients, Gharib instructed her staff to add as many injured body parts for treatment as possible to generate higher billings.<\/p>\n
