\"IRS<\/a>WASHINGTON \u00a0—\u00a0<\/strong>A New York businessman who tried to hide income from his construction company was convicted in U.S. District Court of filing false tax returns for his corporation and is now facing up to six years in prison along with fine of up to $500,000, \u00a0authorities announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

Tomas Olazabal<\/strong>, of Fresh Meadows, N.Y., is the owner of Tupac Construction Corp.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olazabal cashed a number of checks representing gross receipts to Tupac Construction at a commercial cashing service between 2006 and 2008, officials said. \u00a0He\u00a0did not tell his tax return preparer about the cashed checks and failed to report the income on his company’s \u00a02007 and 2008 corporate tax returns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
