\"01v\/11\/arve\/G2582\/016\"<\/a>William Shakespeare had seven siblings.\u00a0<\/span>He \u00a0married Anne Hathaway when he was 18. She was 26 and she was pregnant when they married. Their first child was born six months after the wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway had three children together \u2013 a son, Hamnet, who died in 1596, and two daughters, Susanna and Judith. His only granddaughter Elizabeth \u2013 daughter of Susanna \u2013 died childless in 1670.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare therefore has no descendants.<\/p>\n

Shakespeare died a rich man. He made several gifts to various people but left his property to his daughter, Susanna. The only mention of his wife in Shakespeare\u2019s own will is: \u201cI gyve unto my wief my second best bed with the furniture\u201d. The \u201cfurniture\u201d was the bedclothes for the bed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shakespeare was buried in the Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon.<\/p>\n

He put a curse on anyone daring to move his body from that final resting place. His epitaph was:<\/p>\n

Good friend for Jesus\u2019 sake forbear,<\/em><\/p>\n

To dig the dust enclosed here:<\/em><\/p>\n

Blest be the man that spares these stones,<\/em><\/p>\n

And curst be he that moves my bones.<\/em><\/p>\n
