<\/a>A federal judge today sentenced a former contacting officer to a year and three months in prison for taking bribes in connection with the awarding of mail delivery contracts, officials said.<\/p>\nGregory Cooper<\/strong>, 59, accepted bribes that ranged from fitness equipment delivered to Cooper’s Glenn Dale, Maryland home to a semester’s worth of college tuition for Cooper’s daughter, in addition to $15,900 in cash, according to authorities.<\/p>\nCooper admitted that in exchange for these payments, he gave favorable consideration to his co-defendant\u2019s companies in the bidding process for nine Postal Service contracts, all of which were awarded to the co-defendant\u2019s companies.<\/p>\n
In addition to his prison sentence, the judge\u00a0ordered Cooper to forfeit the amount of the bribes, $25,931.76, officials said.<\/p>\n
In May 2015, officials said Cooper pleaded guilty to accepting more than $25,000 in bribes from a co-defendant who owned two companies that bid on and secured transportation contracts with the Postal Service for mail\u00a0delivery, officials said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
