\"Justice<\/a>OAKLAND<\/strong>\u00a0— A computer support employee was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for downloading child pornography into two of his work computers, according to officials.<\/p>\n

A forensic examination of David Busby’s computers recovered about 1,400 images of child pornography that had been deleted, said federal prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Busby,61, worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and part-time at National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center, which is affiliated with National Laboratory, officials said.<\/p>\n

Evidence at trial showed that on April 20, 2010, a network security analyst detected internet traffic indicative of child pornography on the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center \u00a0computer network. The internet traffic was isolated to a single laptop computer being used by Busby.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Busby, of Richmond, California, made two statements to law enforcement officers shortly after the April 20, 2010 incident, ultimately admitting that he did download child pornography to two of his work computers, authorities said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Officials said Busby told them that he would store the child pornography for a period of time and then delete the images.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0At trial, Busby\u2019s defense claimed that he accidentally downloaded the child pornography onto his computers while trying to access legal child modeling sites<\/span><\/p>\n

In September, Busby, a sex offender from a prior conviction, was found guilty of possessing and accessing with intent to view child pornography, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n
