But I love\u00a0the annual average bounce rate, which is 13.09 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">What is the bounce rate? Simply put, that is percent of people who log into American Justice, read one page and log out.\u00a0This means that for every 100 visitors 13 leave after reading one article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The remaining users read an average of three pages while on my website, according to Google Analytics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The numbers are higher at<strong> Webalizer<\/strong>, which I have through iPage.com: \u00a0There were 192,839 visits and 2.4 million pages viewed in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But I was told that Webalizer counts every visit on American Justice Notebook, including spam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I believe Google Analytics only counts Google users. Maybe, I&#8217;m wrong. This is because for year police and prosecutors along with elected officials have done very little or nothing to clean up this national mess where bad cops kill suspects; good cops say nothing about it; police department heads keep the bad cops on the payroll and some continue to kill people, and prosecutors pretend to investigate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">There have been nearly 1,000 fatal shootings by cops in a year. \u00a0How many police officers have been indicted by state grand jurors? \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Los Angeles Police Department believes its cops walk on water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">T<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/lanow\/la-me-ln-lapd-biased-policing-report-20151215-story.html\">he Los Angeles Times<\/a> recently reported that more than 1,000 complaints against L.A. cops in a year, and no police officer was disciplined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">That fact alone also speaks volumes about how broken the system of holding bad police officers accountable is, not only in Los Angeles, but throughout the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Of course, there are justifiable shootings where criminals are killed because they posed a danger to cops or others. Also being a police officer is a tough job that takes its toll of wear and tear on the mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The killing of a human being, especially by someone who is sworn to protect and serve is a very serious matter, and by taking an investigation behind closed doors to get a grand jury to justify putting its official seal of approval, sometimes in the most egregious fatal shootings, is a legal con being perpetrated on the American people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The numbers and facts speak for themselves as to why the system is rigged: \u00a0<span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\">Prosecutors stand in front of grand jurors during these secret proceedings and are the ones who issue subpoenas for witnesses, including police officers and expert witnesses.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Prosecutors also ask all the questions to witnesses who appear before grand juries. So they have the power to lead the jury in a certain direction.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Fatal shootings should be investigated by an independent body like the FBI or another federal agency that have the resources to do a good and thorough job. \u00a0The investigation results and reports should be made public since the matter has been concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cops and prosecutors have always had a close relationship within the criminal justice system. They both need each other to take cases to court and get convictions.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Covering the courts for 18 years, I&#8217;ve had front-row seats in watching the close relationship between police and prosecutors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mdd _1n4g\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some is healthy, much of it is not because there are unscrupulous prosecutors who partner with bad cops to lie or twist and distort the facts simply to get a conviction.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Also district attorneys seek and rely on the endorsements of police unions when they are up for reelection so they can maintain political bragging rights that they are tough on crime. Police union members benefit by dodging indictments and criminal prosecution no matter what they do on the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">These cozy relationships have been fueled for decades by gullible citizens who believe cops can do no wrong and serve on juries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This has done a lot of damage to the relationship between police and communities, especially in minority neighborhoods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Living Wages<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Hopefully, in 2016, many more cities will start paying workers a living wage like Seattle. People work hard, and they deserve to be fairly compensated for their labor.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"_3-8m\">\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span class=\"_5mdd\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"_5mdd\">Taxpayers shouldn&#8217;t be subsiding workers through food stamps, housing and other federal programs when employers fail to give their workers a living wage.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span class=\"_5mdd\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"_5mdd\">People who make higher wages spend more money, and this is good for the economy.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The mayor of Seattle stated: &#8220;Citywide minimum wage laws offer local governments a powerful tool for helping low-income workers and families in their communities. Such measures also have significant impact on businesses and how they operate.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"_5mdd\"><span class=\"_5mdd\"> Seattle is phasing in a $15 minimum wage after it passed legislation to do so this year.<\/span><\/span><a class=\"\" dir=\"ltr\" href=\"https:\/\/l.facebook.com\/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmurray.seattle.gov%2Fminimumwage%2F%23sthash.n0V4EdHJ.dpuf&amp;h=vAQF5zCxL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/murray.seattle.gov\/minimumwage\/#sthash.n0V4EdHJ.dpuf<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The argument that jobs will be lost if a wage hike is approved is bogus.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This article was published last week titled: &#8220;Research Shows Minimum Wage Increases Do Not Cause Job Loss&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The article notes research and studies by University of Calfornia, Business Week, the Center for Economic and Policy Research and other sources: \u00a0<a class=\"\" dir=\"ltr\" href=\"https:\/\/l.facebook.com\/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.businessforafairminimumwage.org%2Fnews%2F00135%2Fresearch-shows-minimum-wage-increases-do-not-cause-job-loss&amp;h=zAQEgyahZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.businessforafairminimumwage.org\/&#8230;\/research&#8230;<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Congress needs to pass living wage laws in 2016.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>My New Year&#8217;s Resolutions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">1) Become a final contestant on American Idol<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_30o4\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">2) Be a power forward with the L.A.
