His coarse remarks simply spiced up the conversation. The Donald was telling it like it is. Speaking his mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; line-height: 1.5;\">Trump was comic relief on Fox. A big ego, yet harmless. He wagged his tongue and made ignorant, fact-free remarks. But this colorful character gave them a lot of chuckles. Ratings soared, and <strong>CEO Roger Ailes<\/strong> loved it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Trump&#8217;s recent spat with <strong>Fox&#8217;s Golden Girl Megyn Kelly<\/strong> was being packaged like the Ali-Frazier championship fight. The GOP debate rematch would send ratings through the roof and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ailes was salivating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The billionaire lapdog that Fox groomed, cuddled and loved was finally paying off in record ratings and ad dollars. But then &#8220;The Donald&#8221;\u00a0turned against them. He raised his leg and p*ssed on their debate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Now, the anticipated big ratings have fizzled. Frowns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But that could change. Trump could show up at the debate after all, his campaign staff suggested today<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>It&#8217;s Trump 24\/7 on CNN and MSNBC<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_19808\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19808\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19808 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Megyn-Kelly-300x222.jpg\" alt=\"Megyn Kelly\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Megyn-Kelly-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Megyn-Kelly.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-19808\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Television is a service, but it&#8217;s also a business.&#8221; \u2014 Megyn Kelly<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Meanwhile, CNN and MSNBC \u2014 through &#8220;roundtable discussions&#8221; \u2014 are milking the Trump-Kelly sideshow for every ounce of ratings, often gently mocking Fox and Ailes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The talking heads are shamelessly dissecting and analyzing Trump&#8217;s crass, crude and nasty remarks that come from the cesspool between Trump&#8217;s ears as though they are deciphering hieroglyphics, trying to unlock some kind of Egyptian enigma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">They want the rest of the country to understand what Trump real means, often speculating on his &#8216;brilliant&#8221; political moves. A few suggesting that he is a political Napoleon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It&#8217;s not that complicated. Want to know what Trump really means?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Buy a dictionary or better yet buy the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/430126\/donald-trump-conservatives-oppose-nomination\">National Review<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and read how some Republican heavyweights describe The Donald:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;vulgar,&#8221; &#8220;charlatan,&#8221; &#8220;racist&#8221; and \u00a0America&#8217;s George Wallace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Republican Michael Medved<\/strong> wrote in National Review:\u00a0&#8220;Worst of all, Trump\u2019s brawling, blustery, mean-spirited public persona serves to associate conservatives with all the negative stereotypes that liberals have for decades attached to their opponents on the right.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some Republicans are sounding the alarm and warning sane Americans that Trump is dangerous and &#8220;crazy.&#8221; \u00a0Most of the country knows that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">So why is Trump polling high in the Party of Lincoln. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It&#8217;s really not that complicated. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Here are some of the most obvious reasons: Evangelicals are outraged that gays are allowed to marry. \u00a0Religious zealots are pounding this message home on Sundays: America is on a fast-track to hell and Obama is the anti-Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Also the racists and the fearful see the changing demographics \u2014 the browning of America \u2014 and are terrified about illegal Immigration. Also Obamacare. Muslim immigration. \u00a0Black Lives Matter. The P.C. Nazis are on patrol in the Land of the Easily Offended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Worse, whiny liberals who bitch about everything and often sound like a cat being lifted in the air by its balls. Group hug. :)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">And of course, there is a black man in their White House who they don&#8217;t see as being user friendly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">America&#8217;s snake-oil salesman, well, he is giving this country a political enema at his campaign rallies to cure whatever ails the nation \u2014 like it or not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Applause, cheers, whistles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Peso Takes a Financial Plunge<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19822 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Mexican-Peso-300x149.jpg\" alt=\"Mexican Peso\" width=\"300\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Mexican-Peso-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Mexican-Peso.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Mexican peso is on a downward slide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Who cares, right? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">All this means for Americans is more bang for the dollar in Cancun, Acapulco and other Mexican resorts. Cheaper cab fares and hotel rooms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/2016\/01\/23\/peso-continues-its-slide\/79201210\/\">A story in the El Paso Times newspape<\/a>r last weekend stated: &#8220;At some retail outlets in Downtown El Paso and\u00a0Ju\u00e1rez the peso is also already\u00a0trading at 19.10 to the dollar, and since the beginning of the year\u00a0the Mexican currency had declined by 6.1 percent.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">And, &#8220;The devaluation is hurting the purchasing power of Mexican citizens who shop in El Paso stores and the stability of businesses with Mexican contracts that are pegged to the dollar.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The article is accompanied by a photograph presumably of a Mexican woman holding a box of food items and walking by a Banorte Mexican bank that has the peso exchange rates posted on the bank window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Nice photographic images but not the entire story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Many Americans believe that trade with Mexico simply entails streams of older or poor Mexicans \u00a0such as the one depicted in the El Paso Times photo who cross the border, spend a few dollars on mom and pop stores and go back to Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But the fact is that U.S.-Mexico trade is much more complicated. It involves billions of dollars in trade and many, many jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>U.S. and Mexico Trade<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mexico was the United States&#8217;s second largest goods export market in 2013, according to the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ustr.gov\/countries-regions\/americas\/mexico\"> U.S. Treasury Representative.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The federal agency reports that U.S. goods exports to Mexico in 2013 were $226.2 billion, up 4.7% ($10.2 billion) from 2012, and up 132% from 2003. It is up 444% since 1993 (Pre-NAFTA).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> U.S. exports to Mexico accounted for 14.3% of overall U.S. exports in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>The top export categories in 2013 were:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Machinery ($38.5 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Electrical Machinery ($36.7 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mineral Fuel and Oil ($23.0 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Vehicles ($21.6 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Plastic ($15.3 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">U.S. exports of agricultural products to Mexico totaled $18.1 billion in 2013, the 3rd largest U.S. Ag export market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Leading categories include:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Corn ($1.8 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Soybeans ($1.5 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dairy products ($1.4 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Pork and pork products ($1.2 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Poultry meat (excluding eggs) ($1.2 billion)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Good Ole Boy Politics in the South<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">While they wait for The Wall to be constructed, state lawmakers in Alabama and Georgia did something to speed things up and rid the states of its Mexicans, mostly those who entered the country illegally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Ole Boys who were elected to run the state enacted\u00a0laws that cracked down on illegal immigration. That put big smiles on many of \u00a0their constituents and won <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; line-height: 1.5;\">elections. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; line-height: 1.5;\">The law apparently worked. It send many Mexicans packing and moving from those states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The problem is that nobody invited Alabama and Georgia ranchers and farmers into the discussion when they passed laws with\u00a0severe measures to restrict or discourage undesirable or illegal people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">What happened?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">When the <strong>Southern Fried Brain Trust<\/strong> at the State Capitols passed these laws, they didn&#8217;t figure who would be around to do the backbreaking work and pick up the states&#8217; crops after thousands of Mexicans left the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">So, the crops rotted in the fields, according to reports in<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2011\/oct\/14\/alabama-immigration-law-workers\"> <strong>The Guardian<\/strong> <\/a>and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/business\/archive\/2011\/06\/georgias-harsh-immigration-law-costs-millions-in-unharvested-crops\/240774\/\"> <strong>The Atlantic.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I don&#8217;t recall any of these economic facts ever entering into the national dialogue about illegal immigration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Secure U.S.-Mexico Borders<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">There is no question, the U.S. needs to secure and protect its borders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Having lived in El Paso a good chunk of my life, I understand this better than most people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Most of the people who risk their lives and sometimes pay thousands of dollars to cross the border are desperate, poor and just looking for an opportunity to find work to feed their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">There is no doubt in my mind that if the fence is taken down and the Border Patrol is dismantled, the Third World would be in U.S. by breakfast, and I don&#8217;t blame them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If I lived in some South American or Mexican slum, I would sell my soul to go live in the greatest country in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But a weak peso means fewer jobs in Mexico, and desperate people do what they have to do to feed their families, including going to where they can find work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Mexican poor are always the ones to take the brunt of a sluggish economy in Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">They have struggled and suffered as a result of drug cartel violence and corruption in Mexican cities and at the state level, including law enforcement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cartel violence resulted in many businesses being closed along the border and tourism being shut down. That is the price that is paid by the poor to supply the U.S. of A, the world&#8217;s largest drug consumer, with narcotics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Canada&#8217;s Guest Worker Program<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19825 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Flags Mexico, US and Canada\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada-90x60.jpg 90w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada-180x120.jpg 180w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada-95x64.jpg 95w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Flags-Mexico-US-and-Canada.jpg 424w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>What the U.S. needs is a Guest Worker Program, similar\u00a0to the one that Canada and Mexico signed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/canadas-guest-worker-program-could-become-model-for-us-immigration-changes\/2013\/01\/05\/2b82a468-551b-11e2-89de-76c1c54b1418_story.html\"><b>Washington Post<\/b><\/a>\u00a0did an excellent report on the program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This would be a program that would offer jobs to Mexicans, protect them from unscrupulous employers who exploit and cheat them out of their wages. They would be able to earn a decent wage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Also a program where they would be able to save money with contributions from their employers and later, earn a monthly retirement stipend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Most simply want to do work nobody else will do and go back to Mexico to be with their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But it is easier for the political morons in Congress to beat their chests and spew BS about who can be tougher on Mexico and illegal immigrants than fix the problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">That gets them reelected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Raul Hernandez Notebookventura@gmail.com \u00a0 Trump Skips Fox&#8217;s GOP Debate The monster that Fox and the GOP created is skipping their GOP debate No surprise.
