\"MARIONA federal grand jury indicted a former deputy sheriff for using excessive force during an arrest by beating suspect Derrick Price<\/strong>, federal officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marion County, Florida, Deputy Sheriff Jesse Alan Terrell,<\/strong> 33, was indicted Tuesday on violating the civil right of Price by using excessive force during an arrest in 2014, according to the indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The indictment alleges that Terrell repeatedly struck, kneed and kicked the victim in the head, neck and shoulder area.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Terrell, 33, was the last of five deputies accused of violating Price’s civil rights, according to the\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Four of Terrell’s former colleagues had already pleaded guilty to the crime after accepting plea agreements, according to the Tampa Bay Times.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Price, 44, is black. The deputies are white.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Tampa Bay Times <\/a><\/strong>reported that a SWAT team had been searching his home for drugs when he fled. Deputies located him after an hour in the community of Marion Oaks. <\/span><\/p>\n

The video shows Price running, the former deputies catching up to him, shortly before he went to his knees and raised his hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement database shows no prior arrests for Price, the newspaper reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

If convicted, the defendant is facing up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, according to officials.<\/span><\/p>\n

The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n
