Burgess<\/strong> of \u00a0Alaska, \u00a0sentenced Salard on Tuesday \u00a0and ordered him to pay a $25,000 fine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to evidence presented at trial, this is what occurred:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Between June and October 2014, an Internet Protocol address linked to Salard was used to share known child sexual exploitation files and a laptop computer seized from Salard\u2019s home contained peer to peer software that was used to share one of the images identified during the investigation.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A forensic examination of the laptop uncovered evidence of hundreds of child sexual exploitation files, that multiple searches had been run on the laptop for a term associated with child sexual exploitation and that child sexual exploitation videos had been viewed on the computer, according to the evidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The evidence also revealed that a program designed to erase or \u201cwipe\u201d computer files had been used multiple times, including on the morning the search warrant was executed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A doctor was sentenced to 20 years
