{"id":2129,"date":"2014-04-02T22:44:48","date_gmt":"2014-04-03T05:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=2129"},"modified":"2014-04-02T23:15:51","modified_gmt":"2014-04-03T06:15:51","slug":"twenty-four-gang-members-indicted-racketeering-narcotics-firearms-offenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=2129","title":{"rendered":"Twenty-Four Gang Members Indicted for Racketeering, Narcotics and Firearms Offenses."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> &#8211; A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 24 members of a criminal organization, known as \u201cMurda Moore Gangstas\u201d or &#8220;MMG,&#8221; for racketeering, narcotics and firearms offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the gang terrorized residents and others in and around the Moore Housing Projects in the Bronx, New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKeeping our neighborhoods safe and secure from gang violence remains one of this Office\u2019s highest priorities,&#8221; said\u00a0Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. &#8220;Cases like this one, where we worked closely with our local and federal law enforcement partners to charge 24 leaders and members of a violent gang that allegedly terrorized the Moore Housing Projects in the Bronx, can make a big difference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">According to the indictment unsealed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court, this is what happened:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From 2006 through 2014, MMG has been a criminal enterprise consisting of more than 20 gang members who were involved in street robberies, assaults, and sales of crack cocaine, marijuana, and other drugs. MMG was started by five individuals including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tevin Mizell, aka \u201cTev Gunz\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Kevin Mizell, aka \u201cKev Gun\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Edwin Smith, aka \u201cEd Black\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Joshua Fladger, aka \u201cMillz\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The defendants are known, within MMG, as the \u201cTop Five.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later, other defendants, including <strong>Richard Shackleford<\/strong>, aka &#8220;Sha,&#8221; and <strong>Amar Taylor<\/strong>, aka &#8220;Capo MMG,&#8221; became leaders within the gang.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">MMG members protected and controlled its territory in and around the Moore Housing Projects through violence, and committed various crimes within and around that territory, like shootings, robberies, assaults, and narcotics trafficking, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In particular, officials said MMG members have been embroiled in a continuing violent feud with several rival crews and gangs located nearby in the Bronx, such as gangs from the following areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0The Betances Houses (the \u201cLookin\u2019 Real Good,\u201d or \u201cLRG,\u201d gang)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The Riverpark Towers Houses (the \u201cRPT\u201d gang)<\/li>\n<li>The Millbrook Housing Project (the \u201cKillbrook Up\u201d and \u201cKillbrook Down\u201d gangs)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The Highbridge Gardens Houses (the \u201cYoung Flybridge\u201d gang).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In addition, officials alleged that MMG members also sold narcotics in the Moore Houses, and stopped outsiders and rival gang members from doing so in their territory.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, many members of MMG committed street-level robberies, either of drug dealers or people, in and around the Moore Houses, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Also members and associates of MMG obtained, possessed, and used firearms.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">The charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until or if, they proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK &#8211; A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 24 members of a criminal organization, known as \u201cMurda Moore Gangstas\u201d or &#8220;MMG,&#8221; for racketeering, narcotics and firearms offenses.
