The driver stopped along the 2800 block of Longvue Avenue, near Chapin Road, where he and a passenger, both armed, jumped from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area, police said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"5\"><span id=\"pgA2-0\" class=\"embedded gallery C\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\" data-cid=\"372149992\" data-permloc=\"http:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/local\/Photos-Search-Underway-After-Fort-Worth-Police-Officer-Shot-372149992.html\" data-title=\"Photos: Search Underway After Fort Worth Police Officer Shot\" data-galleyindex=\"0\"><span class=\"galleryMask\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.nbcdfw.com\/images\/620*349\/twitter-page-suspect.jpg\" alt=\"Photos: Search Underway After Fort Worth Police Officer Shot\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/span>Photos: Search Underway After Fort Worth Police Officer Shot<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"6\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The officer continued after them and an exchange of gunfire took place, Knight said, injuring the officer and killing one of the shooters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"7\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">NBC 5 has learned the officer was shot three times in the chest and once in the leg before being transported by CareFlite to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The officer is in critical condition with injuries that are considered life threatening, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"709842277179400192\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"9\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">During a press conference Tuesday afternoon at JPS, Fort Worth Chief of Police Joel Fitzgerald said the officer is alive and receiving treatment at the hospital. Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price asked for prayers for the injured officer, his family and all of the Fort Worth Police Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"10\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The shooters have been identified as father and son.
