A former teacher\u2019s aide at Allen High School\u00a0was sentenced this week to probation after a\u00a0relationship she had with\u00a0a female student turned sexual.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kearney Day, 22, pleaded guilty to a\u00a0second-degree felony charge of having an improper relationship with a student in early 2014<\/a>. In exchange for her guilty plea, Collin County prosecutors dismissed\u00a0eight other counts, including charges of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child sexual contact.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day, who was scheduled to go to trial on Monday, was sentenced to deferred adjudication probation for four years and fined $500. She must also do 120 hours of community service and have no unsupervised contact with children, according to the court docket.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her attorney could not be reached for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day, who worked as an instructional aide with Allen ISD, was fired when the allegations came to light.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a probable cause affidavit, the student told her principal that the relationship began in January 2014 when she was 16 and Day was 20. The student told authorities she considered Day her girlfriend. They used a phone app called Kik to exchange messages, some of which were sexually suggestive. The student said\u00a0\u201cthat sex did take place\u201d multiple times during a\u00a0Valentine\u2019s Day sleepover at her house when her mother was\u00a0away, the affidavit stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
