14pt;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22700 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harbin-Engineering-University-1-300x300.png\" alt=\"Harbin Engineering University\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harbin-Engineering-University-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harbin-Engineering-University-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harbin-Engineering-University-1.png 316w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Amin Yu<\/strong>, of Orlando, Florida, was named in an 18-count indictment that was unsealed today charging her with acting as an illegal agent of a foreign government in the United States; conspiring to defraud the United States and to commit offenses against the United States; committing unlawful export information activities; smuggling goods from the United States; conspiring to and committing international money laundering and making false statements to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If convicted, Yu faces up to 20 years in federal prison on each of the money laundering counts. \u00a0She faces up to 10 years in prison for acting as an illegal agent of a foreign government and up to five years in prison on all other counts.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The indictment also seeks to have Yu forfeit about $2.6 million, the alleged traceable proceeds of the offenses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Click here to read the that these crimes were committed from at least 2002 to about February 2014, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Yu proceeded to illegally export the systems and components to China for use by her co-conspirators in the development of marine submersible vehicles \u2013 unmanned underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles and autonomous underwater vehicles \u2013 for HEU and other state-controlled entities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Yu is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This case was investigated by the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u2019s Homeland Security Investigations, the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
