{"id":24290,"date":"2016-06-13T11:07:30","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T18:07:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=24290"},"modified":"2016-06-13T11:35:15","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T18:35:15","slug":"feds-female-corrections-officers-discriminated-michigan-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=24290","title":{"rendered":"Feds:  28 Female Correction Officers Were Discriminated Against at Michigan Prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>MICHIGAN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit alleging that the Michigan Department of Corrections discriminated against female corrections officers, federal officials announced today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The complaint alleges that beginning in 2009, the Department of Corrections discriminated against female correctional officers working at its only prison for female inmates, Huron Valley.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The complaint further alleges that prison officials restricted multiple correctional officer positions on the basis of sex and without justification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It also alleges the Department of Correction has a pattern or practice of denying the transfer requests of female correctional officers from Huron Valley to other state prisons while granting similar transfer requests to male correction officers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe Michigan Department of Corrections\u2019 policy unnecessarily limits job opportunities for its female employees at the Huron Valley Correctional Facility,\u201d said U.S. Attorney Barbara L.
