Sturdivant was also charged with failing to intervene while Marsher was punching and beating K.H.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The indictment alleges that their actions involved the use of a dangerous weapon and resulted in bodily injury to the victim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A third officer, <strong>Deonte Pate<\/strong>, 23, was charged along with Marsher and Sturdivant for conspiring to cover up the beating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The indictment alleges that all three officers submitted false reports and that all three lied to the FBI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If convicted, Marsher and Sturdivant face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison on the excessive force charges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Each of the three officers faces up to five years in prison on the conspiracy and false statement charges, and up to 20 years in prison on the false report charges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a nine-count
